Historic Restoration

Halcyon Homes has an extensive background in museum quality historic restoration. Most of this experience comes from the restoration of 18th century plantation buildings and historic churches in South Carolina. These restorations were done with the upmost care to preserve the historic character and fabric of the building bringing it into the 21st century. Some of these buildings had never been modified and required installation of plumbing, wiring, heating and air conditioning. There is a great sense of pride in seeing these buildings returned to their original grandeur after having endured decades of poorly done utility upgrades, maintenance and additions, some severely affecting the integrity of the structure. The skills learned in transforming these old buildings into modern living spaces makes us uniquely qualified to renovate the Mediterranean classics and Craftsman bungalows of Tampa, as well as the historic warehouses of Ybor. Halcyon Homes stands apart in its ability to recreate a period design to seamlessly blend an addition to an existing home.

Below is an untouched series of photos from the Dara Hall restoration. Dara Hall is an auditorium built around 1870 for the newly freed slaves in Beaufort SC. It had completely collapsed from neglect and was rebuilt saving 90% of the original wooden framing, truss and siding material.
